This skirt was inspired by architectural cross-section drawings showing hidden layers under the facade of a building, but it also brings to mind skirts from the early 1920s, when ladies’ calves were suddenly visible under shockingly (for the time) short skirts. The star increases and inset pleats break up the span of stocking stitch and add intriguing detail. It is designed to be worn a few inches below the natural waist.
