This cardigan reminds me of men’s shawl-neck sweaters from the late 1950s.  The cozy collar will keep the wearer warm, and the extra long sleeves can be unfolded to keep hands covered (and will also allow the sweater to fit for a few extra months).  The soft, machine washable yarn and easy single-button closure will ensure that this sweater is worn frequently.  It is knit seamlessly from the hem to the neck, then the collar is picked up and shaped with short rows.
