The slipped and twisted stitches in this pattern form a tessellated design of pointed ovals which smartly nestle together. The stitch pattern is relatively simple and easy to follow, but makes the hat an impressive gift. No one will guess that it takes only a few hours to make. Choose a smooth, solid-colored yarn to highlight the raised stitch pattern.
This pattern is sized from 17.75" to 23" head circumference and has a gauge of 18 sts to 4" in stocking stitch using worsted weight yarn. The yardage required ranges from 70 to 130 yards. The yarn shown is Artfibers Bambusa.
The stitch pattern makes this hat very textured -- in dark purple it would look like a blackberry. The stretchy stitch makes a soft hat that won’t smoosh your hair. The hat is knit inside out, and you may even decide to wear it that way on some days – the reverse side is an interesting lacey trellis pattern.
This pattern is sized from 16.5" to 19.5" head circumference and has a gauge of 22 sts to 4" in bramble stitch using worsted weight yarn. The yardage required ranges from 160 to 200 yards. The yarn shown is Lorna's Laces Green Line Worsted.
This hat uses a very simple stitch pattern that mixes 1x1 ribbing and seed stitch, but looks much more interesting than either. In a solid-color matte yarn is a good basic men’s hat. Knit in the round from the bottom up, it can be completed in just a couple hours. This is a great first hat pattern!
